The Viking Group led the construction and redevelopment of the Atlas Building, an eight story masonry building that underwent a nearly $10 million renovation in downtown Charleston, WV. This project utilized federal and state historic tax credits as funding vehicles and through direction from The Viking Group, adhered to the strict guidelines and oversight from the National Park Service and the State Historic Preservation Office of West Virginia. The scope of work included the replacement of limestone parapet cap stones, extensive repair of deteriorated exterior brick, repointing, and cleaning of the entire structure with NPS approved chemicals while completely transforming the interior from office space into 52 market rate apartments and first floor retail.
